Customer service. The staff was very proactive from check in to check out. Although our reservation was for a room with a double bed, the receptionist asked if we would prefer a kingsize bed. We welcomed the change. That night from the bar to the excellent meal at dinner, we could not have asked for a more pleasant experience. The next morning after a very hearty breakfast, one of the best on our 11 day vacation we checked out and walked next door to catch the cable car to the top of the mountain. Our location was perfect in that the first cable car opened at 1000. We went up at 1030 and were well ahead of the tourist buses. In hindsight I would have preferred to spend a few more days. We were able to take advantage of the 55 and over discount. If you are planning to visit the Picos or if we get the chance to return, this is the place to stay. For a better perspective check it out on google maps and the satellite view.
The situation of the hotel and the public rooms and the bed rooms. The helpful staff.
The restaurant where we had our evening meal which was very expensive with poor quality food that did not even look nice. The meal took 2 hours. The staff were very good but had far too many tables to look after. We did not have breakfast as we thought it may be the same.
Location. The view from the room. The receptionist said that using internet in the room was difficult, but it worked enough.
"A brief art of cookig" menu was good, but other menu was normal. The staff of restaurant were too busy to serve us timely.
The staff could be better informed about hiking possibilities in the mountains.
Beautiful setting and easy access to the cable car. Fantastic en-suite bathroom. Perfect location for walking/touring the Picos
The hotel's location, excellent for the beggining of the trip in the "picos de europa" (North Spain).
The location was ideal for visiting, via the cable car, the mountains in Picos de Europa.
The cost of meals was exhorbitant.
Excellent situation in mountains, spectacular scenery, well appointed rooms, facilities, etc. Town nearby (20 km)
Very comfortable with very good service, staff very helpful. Food was good and very well presented. Proximity to the cable car was great.
A little bit chilly during cold and incredibly wet weak. One welcoming fire would have been nice. Also, an English newspaper/magazine or a few books in the English language would be very useful for clients housebound because of the weather.
The location, at the base of the mountains, is excellent.
The staff at reception were very unhelpful. It seems that if you are not part of a bus tour you are not a valued customer. The food was poor especially for the price. Also, in the heavy rain we had the windows and roof in the upstairs lounge leaked - not a good sign for the future.
We enjoyed the setting overall and the room was very comfortable with a great view of the mountains. We have already recommended Fuente De to other travellers. The house set menu was a highlight as was the the cablecar experience. Overall a great experience at a very good price.
The Games room only have games that we must pay (not a good policy, having in mind that you are completely isolated)- should be for free and the main doors were closed (difficult acess to children and people in wheel chairs)
We enjoyed the views and the location. However the restaurant did not cater for anyone on a fish or vegetarian diet. The fact Wonderful location excellent rooms.
The hotel restaurant makes no attempt to cater for non meat eaters so we ate at the small hotel opposite which was a pity. State run operation and it shows.
very scenic location, excellent meal at the restaurant
Lovely staff, great comfort, really nice dinner, beautiful spot.
It is a shame they built it to face down the valley, rather than look up at the beautiful mountains, we were told a room with a view of the mountains was impossible, even though they were not full.
